Anthem Ranch vs. Skyestone: which Broomfield 55+ community actually fits you

April 12, 2026 · 8 min read · By Maddie Cowger

If you are exploring active-adult living on the north side of the Denver metro, you will land on Anthem Ranch and Skyestone within about ten minutes of Googling. Both are in Broomfield, both are gated, both have a clubhouse, and both attract people who are done with stairs and yard work but not done with a real social life.

On paper they look interchangeable. They are not. Here is how I walk SRES clients through the choice.

Anthem Ranch at a glance

Anthem Ranch is the larger, older of the two: about 1,335 homes built by Del Webb starting in 2006. It sits on the northwest edge of Broomfield with direct access to open space and the Aspen Lodge clubhouse, which is a serious 32,000+ square foot facility with indoor and outdoor pools, pickleball, tennis, a full fitness center, and ongoing classes.

Resale inventory is strong because the community is established. You see ranch and ranch-with-loft floor plans in the high $600s to mid $900s depending on size, view, and finish level.

Skyestone at a glance

Skyestone is Taylor Morrison's 519-home community on the south side of Broomfield, closer to US-36 and the tech corridor. Smaller footprint, smaller clubhouse (The Cottage), and a tighter, more walkable feel.

Skyestone tends to draw people who want a polished, modern aesthetic and a shorter drive to Boulder, Denver, or DIA. Pricing runs similar to Anthem Ranch: generally low $700s to high $900s.

Who Anthem Ranch fits

  • You want amenities to be the social center of your life: pickleball league, water aerobics, art studio, woodshop.
  • You like the feel of a small town inside the metro and you want the bigger trail network out your back door.
  • You are comparing it to Heritage Todd Creek or Heritage Eagle Bend and you want clubhouse density without a mandatory golf membership.

Who Skyestone fits

  • You want lower-maintenance, more contemporary architecture and a smaller, quieter community feel.
  • You commute or travel often: proximity to US-36, Boulder, and DIA matters.
  • You want close-in dining and shopping (FlatIron Crossing, Arista) without driving 20 minutes.

The honest tiebreaker

Tour both on the same day. Sit in the clubhouse for thirty minutes. Anthem Ranch hums; Skyestone is calmer. Neither is better: they are different lifestyles wearing similar marketing.

If you are helping a parent through this decision, my Senior Transitions process walks the whole family through tours, downsizing logistics, and a coordinated sale of the existing home so nothing falls between the cracks.
